0 Parity and time reversal violating nuclear polarizability
We propose a nuclear mechanism which can induce an atomic electric dipole moment (EDM). Parity and time reversal violating (P, T-odd) nuclear forces generate a mixed P, T-odd nuclear polarizability β ik (defined by an energy shift U = −β ik E i H k , E is electric field and H magnetic field). The interaction of atomic electrons with β ik produces an atomic EDM. We performed an analytical calcul...
متن کاملWave Functions for Parity–Violating Nuclear Forces
Tensor representation (TR) for wave function (WF) of three–nucleon bound state with the total angular momentum I = 1/2 is discussed. The WF in TR has 16 complex components depending on vectors of relative momenta. Constraints on the WF imposed by requirements of invariance with respect to space inversion and time reversal are studied. Both parity– even and parity–odd components of the 3N bound ...
متن کاملConstraint on parity-violating muonic forces.
Using the nonobservance of missing mass events in the leptonic kaon decay K→μX, we place a strong constraint on exotic parity-violating gauge interactions of the right-handed muon. By way of illustration, we apply it to an explanation of the proton size anomaly that invokes such a new force; scenarios in which the gauge boson decays invisibly or is long lived are constrained.
متن کاملLimits of Time-Reversal Violating Interaction from Compound Nuclear Experiments
Mean square matrix elements of the time reversal invariance violating (TRIV) interaction between the compound nuclear states are calculated within the statistical model, using the explicit form of the TRIV interaction via the ρmeson exchange. From the comparison of the calculated values with the data known for p+27Al ⇔24 Mg+α reaction, and for γ-correlation measurements in 113Cd(n, γ)114Cd proc...
متن کاملParity Violating Measurements of Neutron Densities and Nuclear Structure
Parity violating electron nucleus scattering is a clean and powerful tool for measuring the spatial distributions of neutrons in nuclei with unprecedented accuracy. Parity violation arises from the interference of electromagnetic and weak neutral amplitudes, and the Z of the Standard Model couples primarily to neutrons at low Q. Experiments are now feasible at existing facilities. We show that ...
